Job Description

A New Leaf's Alice Peterson Resicence and Dorothy Mitchell Residence are licensed and accredited 24-hour youth shelters for children that offer specialized case management for the purpose of family reunification.

The principle goal of these programs is to provide a safe and stable environment in which to foster the optimal growth and development of each child. Supporting objectives include improved physical health, improved education/vocation skill development and timely family reunification and/or release planning. 

A New Leaf is seeking multiple Spanish/English Bilingual Youth Care Workers

Full Time: 40 hrs. per week

2 Possible Schedules: 

  1. Sunday, 8am-10pm and Monday - Wednesday, 2pm-10pm
  2. Wednesday-Friday, 2pm-10pm and Saturday, 8am-10p

Pay Rate: $13.50/hr.

Duties and Responsibilities (included but not limited to): 

  • Provide consistent “line of sight” supervision for clients.
  • Actively attend and participate in various professional growth activities.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Team to learn, practice and effectively implement approved therapeutic interventions.
  • Document and submit significant and routine paperwork regarding clients and programmatic activities.
  • May assist or perform duties related to providing and/or monitoring client’s self-administration of prescribed medication.
  • Provide varied verbal and physical crisis intervention and counseling.
  • Assist clients in one-on-one tutoring and GED prep as necessary.
  • Provide safe transportation of clients to various scheduled activities and adhere to agency driving policy and procedures.
  • Participate in a minimum of four (4) hours per month of clinical supervision with a certified or licensed behavioral health professional. 

Skills / Requirements

High school diploma or GED and (2) two years of work experience or Associates/Bachelor’s degree in a human services field required plus (1) one year of work experience; Must be Spanish/English bilingual. Bilingual skills must meet the agency standard for written/verbal and have the ability to communicate effectively in Spanish and the ability to interpret and translate; Possess a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation, current auto liability insurance and a clean 39-month motor vehicle record. Must have a Class One Fingerprint Clearance Card or be able to pass various background checks in order to obtain one.

Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. Must possess knowledge and understanding of standard office equipment, be proficient with personal computers and applicable software programs. Effectively communicate in Spanish and English (verbal and written).

Due to state licensing requirements, applicants must be a minimum 21 years of age.
